Disney DVC Resale Market

Last updated: December 18, 2025

DVC resale – Explore magical Disney resorts and adventures.
Disney DVC Resale Market

The Disney DVC resale market represents one of the most active vacation ownership secondary markets in the United States. Since Disney Vacation Club began in 1991, thousands of members have bought and sold contracts through the resale market, creating a mature marketplace with established pricing patterns and transaction processes. Understanding this market helps both buyers and sellers make informed decisions.

Size and Scope of the DVC Resale Market

Disney Vacation Club has grown to include more than 200,000 member families across its portfolio of resorts. With this large membership base, a consistent flow of contracts becomes available on the resale market each year. Members sell for various reasons including lifestyle changes, financial needs, or simply concluding their Disney vacation chapter.

The resale market operates alongside Disney direct sales. While Disney continues selling new memberships at retail prices, the resale market provides an alternative entry point at significantly lower costs. This dual-market structure has existed throughout DVC history and provides options for buyers with different budgets and priorities.

Current Market Conditions

DVC resale prices fluctuate based on economic conditions, Disney announcements, and supply-demand dynamics. Prices generally follow broader economic trends, rising during strong economic periods and softening during downturns. New resort announcements from Disney can affect resale values at existing properties as buyers weigh their options.

Each resort maintains its own pricing dynamics within the broader market. Highly desirable resorts with prime locations command premium resale prices, while older resorts with nearer expiration dates trade at lower price points. Monitoring market trends helps buyers identify good opportunities and helps sellers set competitive asking prices.

Price Comparison: Resale vs Direct

The price advantage of resale purchases compared to buying directly from Disney is substantial. Disney currently prices new memberships between approximately 200 and 250 dollars per point depending on the resort. Resale prices typically range from 100 to 180 dollars per point, representing savings of 30% to 50% off retail.

On a typical 150-point contract, the difference can amount to 15,000 to 25,000 dollars in savings. This significant cost reduction makes DVC membership accessible to families who might not consider purchasing at retail prices. The savings can be invested, used for other vacation expenses, or simply kept as additional financial cushion.

What Drives DVC Resale Values

Several factors influence resale prices at any given time. Resort location and desirability consistently impact pricing, with monorail-accessible resorts and those adjacent to theme parks commanding premiums. The expiration date of the resort contract affects long-term value perception, with newer resorts offering more years of ownership.

Contract-specific factors also matter. Point totals, use years, and current point availability influence individual contract values. Contracts with points available for immediate use typically sell faster and sometimes at slight premiums compared to stripped contracts requiring buyers to wait for their first point allocation.

Disney Right of First Refusal Impact

Disney maintains the Right of First Refusal on all DVC resale transactions. This allows Disney to review each sale and choose to purchase the contract at the agreed price rather than allowing it to transfer to the buyer. Disney exercises this right selectively, typically on contracts priced below certain thresholds.

ROFR activity provides market signals about pricing floors. When Disney consistently purchases contracts below a certain price point, it establishes an effective minimum market price. Buyers and sellers monitor ROFR patterns to understand where transactions are likely to be approved versus purchased by Disney.

Market Transparency and Information

The DVC resale market has become increasingly transparent over time. Multiple brokers list available contracts publicly, allowing buyers to compare options across the marketplace. Historical sales data and ROFR results are tracked and shared within the DVC community, providing valuable market intelligence.

DVC Sales contributes to market transparency by providing accurate listing information, market analysis, and guidance to both buyers and sellers. Our platform displays current inventory across all DVC resorts, helping participants understand available options and prevailing market conditions.

Benefits of Buying DVC Resale

  • Cost Savings: As previously mentioned, purchasing through the resale market can save buyers a significant amount of money compared to buying directly from Disney.
  • Flexibility: Buyers have the flexibility to choose from a wide array of resorts and contract sizes, allowing them to tailor their purchase to their specific vacation habits and preferences.
  • Access to Existing Resorts: Resale buyers can purchase contracts for resorts that may no longer be available directly from Disney, offering a chance to own a piece of Disney history.

Considerations for Sellers

  • Market Timing: Sellers should consider current market conditions and timing their sale to maximize their return.
  • Pricing Strategy: Setting a competitive asking price is crucial. Sellers can consult with brokers or market analysis tools to determine an optimal price point.
  • Understanding ROFR: Being aware of Disney's Right of First Refusal and how it might impact the sale is important for setting realistic expectations.

Mitzi and I couldn't have had a more positive experience as the one which we had, in selling some of our DVC points through DVC Sales with Mark and Lori Webb. and their staff. The whole process was transparent, seamless and we were being fully briefed as to the. progress. Thanks to Mark we were kept aware as to what was happening with the listing, with the ROFR bu Disney, and with the closing process completed, all in a short months' time. We couldn't have asked for a better group than DVC Sales for the sale. they were honest . amd truly caring on our behalf. Mitzi and Lee Tucholski

Foreign sellers, beware; they will not provide correct information to you about what you can expect when selling. They also, at the end of the process, hit you with fees you did not expect, and you are too late to do anything about it.

I could not imagine being happier with my experience using DVC Sales to sell our Old Key West membership. We enjoyed so many years of Disney vacations. While on your website I started a chat that turned into a call with Lori. She took the time to explain how the website works. Within a few minutes I had created my account and listed my membership for sale. Within 3-4 weeks we received an offer and sold our membership. Thankyou Lori and DVC Sales!

Mark, today we have just received the last check for our 4th contract you sold for us. Our experience was outstanding you deserve the acknowledgement for your service. You remind me of the way customers were treated years ago. Everybody we spoke with or chatted online was friendly and helpful. Although the process took a few months, it was worth the wait. We hope the families who purchased on contracts have as much enjoyment as we have had. If anyone is looking to buy or sell a DVC membership you can use our name. Thank you again!
