Experience Marvelous Rides at Magic Kingdom

Thrilling roller coaster ride at Disney

Magic Kingdom opened in 1971 as Walt Disney World's flagship theme park, and it remains the most visited theme park in the world. With 23 attractions spread across six themed lands, it offers something magical for every member of your family. As DVC owners ourselves, we've experienced these rides countless times with our own families and guests.

The Magic Kingdom Experience for DVC Members

Magic Kingdom holds a special place in every Disney Vacation Club member's heart. It's often the first park families visit during their stays at Disney's Grand Floridian, Contemporary, or Polynesian Village resorts. The monorail connection makes it incredibly convenient, and you'll find yourself returning again and again throughout your membership.

Each visit reveals something new, whether it's a ride you haven't tried in years or a detail you never noticed before. The park's design encourages exploration, and with DVC's multi-day flexibility, you can take your time discovering everything at your own pace.

Classic Attractions That Define Magic Kingdom

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This Frontierland roller coaster remains one of Disney's most perfectly designed attractions. The ride vehicles wind through a convincing mining town and desert landscape, complete with falling rocks, bat caves, and an underground lake. It's thrilling enough for teenagers but gentle enough for younger children who meet the 40-inch height requirement.

The attraction typically has shorter wait times in the evening, and the experience feels completely different in the dark. Many DVC families make this a tradition during their Magic Kingdom nights.

Space Mountain

Tomorrowland's indoor roller coaster delivers a completely different experience from Big Thunder Mountain. Racing through space in near-complete darkness creates genuine thrills, even for experienced coaster enthusiasts. The 44-inch height requirement keeps it from being a family ride, but older kids and adults consistently rank it among their Magic Kingdom favorites.

The queue itself tells a story, and Disney recently updated the post-show area. If you're staying at Contemporary Resort, you can actually see Space Mountain from your room, which adds to the anticipation.

Haunted Mansion

Liberty Square's most famous resident houses 999 happy haunts, with room for one more. The Haunted Mansion combines impressive special effects with Walt Disney's signature storytelling. Every age group finds something to appreciate, from the technical wizardry to the subtle humor woven throughout the experience.

The attraction runs continuously, so even when lines look long, they move steadily. During Halloween season, Disney adds special decorations that make repeat visits worthwhile.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Adventureland's boat ride through a pirate-infested Caribbean town showcases Disney's audio-animatronics at their finest. The attraction helped inspire the popular movie franchise, and Disney has since added Jack Sparrow and other film characters to the original scenes.

Pirates works particularly well during hot Florida afternoons, as the indoor sections provide welcome air conditioning. The ride has no height restrictions, making it perfect for multi-generational DVC families.

Family-Friendly Attractions

It's a Small World

This Fantasyland boat ride remains surprisingly engaging after more than 50 years. The attraction features children from every continent singing the famous Sherman Brothers song in their native languages. While adults might find the tune memorable long after leaving the park, children are typically mesmerized by the colorful displays and cheerful music.

Small World offers another climate-controlled break from Florida heat, and the boats accommodate wheelchairs and strollers easily.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Fantasyland's spinning elephant ride epitomizes classic Disney charm. Children control their elephant's altitude while circling above the colorful circus setting. Disney recently doubled the capacity and added an indoor play area for the queue, making waits more manageable.

The views from the top of the ride cycle provide excellent photo opportunities, especially of nearby attractions like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and It's a Small World.

Mad Tea Party

The spinning teacup ride in Fantasyland lets guests control their own spinning intensity. Families can work together to create a gentle, scenic ride or a dizzying adventure. The attraction runs continuously throughout the day, though waits tend to be shorter during parades and fireworks.

The colorful teacups create a festive atmosphere that embodies the whimsical spirit of Fantasyland. It's particularly charming in the evening when the area lighting creates a magical glow.

Interactive and Modern Attractions

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

This Tomorrowland dark ride combines the classic Disney ride-through format with interactive gaming elements. Guests use laser cannons to score points while helping Buzz Lightyear defeat Emperor Zurg. Each ride vehicle spins independently, allowing riders to target different scoring opportunities.

The competitive element makes this attraction particularly popular with families who enjoy friendly competition. Many DVC members develop strategies for achieving higher scores during repeat visits.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Fantasyland's newest major attraction opened in 2014 as the centerpiece of the New Fantasyland expansion. The family coaster features innovative swaying mine cars that rock back and forth as they travel through the diamond mine and cottage scenes.

While not as intense as Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain, the Mine Train offers enough excitement for the whole family. The 38-inch height requirement makes it accessible to most children, and the detailed scenes reward multiple rides.

Transportation and Scenic Rides

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

The PeopleMover provides a relaxing tour of Tomorrowland from an elevated track. The ride passes through Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and other attractions while offering unique views of the Magic Kingdom. It's particularly valuable during busy days as a chance to rest while still experiencing an attraction.

Many experienced visitors use the PeopleMover as a planning tool, scouting crowd levels at different attractions from above. The ride rarely has significant waits and provides excellent air conditioning.

Jungle Cruise

Adventureland's boat tour through dangerous jungle waters relies heavily on the skipper's comedic narration. Each trip feels different depending on your skipper's personality and delivery style. The attraction recently received updates to some of its scenes while maintaining the classic adventure spirit.

Jungle Cruise works well as a midday break, and the covered boats provide shade during sunny weather. The experience feels particularly authentic during evening rides when the jungle lighting creates more mysterious atmospheres.

Additional Magic Kingdom Attractions

Beyond the detailed attractions above, Magic Kingdom offers several other experiences worth your time:

  • Peter Pan's Flight - Soar over London and Neverland in flying pirate ships
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - Journey through the Hundred Acre Wood
  • Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid - Experience Ariel's world in detailed show scenes
  • Astro Orbiter - Spin high above Tomorrowland in rocket ships
  • Carousel of Progress - Walt Disney's vision of technological progress
  • Country Bear Jamboree - Classic audio-animatronic musical show

Planning Your Magic Kingdom Days as a DVC Member

DVC membership provides unique advantages for experiencing Magic Kingdom. Extended Length of Stay benefits allow you to book Lightning Lanes further in advance, and the ability to split longer stays across multiple trips means you can experience the park during different seasons.

Magic Kingdom requires multiple visits to truly appreciate everything it offers. Some DVC families dedicate entire trips to just Magic Kingdom and the monorail resorts, while others use it as their arrival day park when staying at Bay Lake Tower or Grand Floridian.

The park's size and attraction variety mean different family members might prefer different approaches. Younger children might focus on Fantasyland, while teenagers gravitate toward the mountains and Tomorrowland. DVC's flexibility lets you accommodate these varying interests across multiple stays.

Seasonal Experiences and Special Events

Magic Kingdom transforms throughout the year with seasonal decorations and special events. Halloween brings Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with exclusive entertainment and trick-or-treating. The Christmas season features elaborate decorations, holiday-themed attraction overlays, and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

These events typically require separate admission tickets, but they offer experiences you can't get during regular park hours. Many DVC members time their stays around these special events, using their points for longer stays that include both regular park days and special event nights.

Spring and summer bring different crowd patterns and weather considerations. DVC members often prefer visiting during Value season when points stretch further, though this coincides with busier school break periods.

Making the Most of Your Magic Kingdom Experience

Magic Kingdom rewards both careful planning and spontaneous exploration. Lightning Lane selections help manage wait times for the most popular attractions, while maintaining flexibility for discovering unexpected moments of magic.

The park's hub-and-spoke design means you'll likely return to the central plaza multiple times throughout your visit. This creates natural opportunities to reassess plans, grab snacks, or simply pause and appreciate the iconic Cinderella Castle views.

Many experienced DVC families develop their own Magic Kingdom traditions, whether it's always starting with Pirates of the Caribbean, ending with Space Mountain, or taking a midday break for Dole Whips in Adventureland.

Each visit builds upon previous experiences, creating layers of memory and meaning that make DVC membership particularly valuable for families who love returning to Magic Kingdom year after year.

I’ve dealt with Mark for over 20 years, he’s always available to answer my silly questions, and give honest advice, even if it’s to his detriment. When the time comes to sell, Mark will be my first call.

Mitzi and I couldn't have had a more positive experience as the one which we had, in selling some of our DVC points through DVC Sales with Mark and Lori Webb. and their staff. The whole process was transparent, seamless and we were being fully briefed as to the. progress. Thanks to Mark we were kept aware as to what was happening with the listing, with the ROFR bu Disney, and with the closing process completed, all in a short months' time. We couldn't have asked for a better group than DVC Sales for the sale. they were honest . amd truly caring on our behalf. Mitzi and Lee Tucholski

Foreign sellers, beware; they will not provide correct information to you about what you can expect when selling. They also, at the end of the process, hit you with fees you did not expect, and you are too late to do anything about it.

I could not imagine being happier with my experience using DVC Sales to sell our Old Key West membership. We enjoyed so many years of Disney vacations. While on your website I started a chat that turned into a call with Lori. She took the time to explain how the website works. Within a few minutes I had created my account and listed my membership for sale. Within 3-4 weeks we received an offer and sold our membership. Thankyou Lori and DVC Sales!

Mark, today we have just received the last check for our 4th contract you sold for us. Our experience was outstanding you deserve the acknowledgement for your service. You remind me of the way customers were treated years ago. Everybody we spoke with or chatted online was friendly and helpful. Although the process took a few months, it was worth the wait. We hope the families who purchased on contracts have as much enjoyment as we have had. If anyone is looking to buy or sell a DVC membership you can use our name. Thank you again!
