Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary is here!

DVC resale – Explore magical Disney resorts and adventures.

Celebrate 18 Months of Magic

Disney Vacation Club Resort

The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World started October 1st, and honestly? It's been the biggest celebration I've seen in my 25+ years working with DVC members. They're running this thing for 18 months - longest anniversary party Disney's ever done. The park icons are all lit up with these golden effects, decorations everywhere. If you've got points sitting around, this is exactly when you want to use them.

New Shows

Harmonious: Spectacular Nighttime Show

Epcot's new nighttime show Harmonious is massive. Disney calls it one of their largest productions ever, and after seeing it three times now, I believe it. The floating screens alone are the size of small buildings. Fireworks, fountains, lasers - the whole thing synced to Disney music you actually recognize. They're using:

  • The Lion King
  • Moana
  • Coco
  • Aladdin
  • And more!

Fair warning though - the best viewing spots get packed. If you're staying at Beach Club or BoardWalk on points, you can walk over early and grab a good spot.

Disney Enchantment: Magical Fireworks Extravaganza

Disney Enchantment replaced Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. The projections on Cinderella Castle are incredible - they basically turn the whole castle into a canvas. Main Street gets projections too, which is new.

But here's the thing. The show's beautiful, don't get me wrong. Just know that if you loved Happily Ever After, this one's different. More modern, less of that classic Disney feel.

KiteTails: Whimsical Kite Show

Disney KiteTails at Animal Kingdom was... well, let's just say it had some challenges when it first started. Giant kites of Simba and Baloo flying around Discovery River. The idea was cool. The execution? Let's say Florida wind doesn't always cooperate with giant fabric animals.

They've worked out most of the kinks now. It's actually pretty fun to watch, especially if you've got kids.

Drawn to Life: Acrobatic Marvel

Disney Springs got this new Cirque du Soleil show called Drawn to Life right before the anniversary. It's Disney meets acrobatics, and it works. The staging is incredible - they project Disney animations while performers do these impossible moves above your head.

Tickets run about $79-$150 depending on your seats. Worth it if you're into that kind of thing.

Sights to See

Enchanting Park Icons

They call them "Beacons of Magic" and every park icon got the treatment. Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life, Hollywood Tower - all lit up with these shimmering gold effects that change throughout the night.

But the real hunt is for those 50 golden character statues they scattered around all four parks. Kids go crazy for these things. We've had members tell us they spent entire days just statue hunting. Some are obvious, others are tucked away in spots you'd never think to look.

Food

Exclusive Culinary Delights

Space 220 opened at Epcot right before the anniversary. You take this "elevator" up to a space station and eat dinner while looking out at Earth below. It's all screens and effects, but the illusion's pretty convincing. Dinner runs about $79 per adult, lunch is $55. Hard to get into - we tell our members to book 60 days out if they want a shot.

The 50th anniversary snacks are everywhere:

  • Polynesian's got special Dole Whips with gold flakes (because of course they do)
  • Every bakery has cupcakes covered in gold and blue frosting
  • Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street has this anniversary sundae that's basically a sugar bomb with sparklers

Most of the special treats are overpriced and overhyped. But that Dole Whip at Polynesian? Actually worth it.

Attractions

Remy's Ratatouille Adventure: Family-Friendly Fun

Remy's Ratatouille Adventure opened in the France Pavilion right on time for the anniversary. You shrink down to rat size and race through Gusteau's kitchen. It's got 4D effects - you smell the food, feel the heat from the ovens. Kids love it, adults don't hate it.

The ride uses trackless vehicles like Rise of the Resistance, so no two rides are exactly the same. Lines can hit 90+ minutes on busy days, but if you're staying at Riviera or other Epcot-area DVC resorts, you can rope drop it pretty easily.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened in 2022 and it's legitimately one of the best coasters Disney's ever built. Indoor, rotating cars, custom soundtrack - the whole thing feels like you're inside a Marvel movie.

But good luck getting on it. Even with DVC's 7-day booking window for Lightning Lanes, this thing sells out in minutes. Your best bet is to stay at Beach Club or Riviera and get to the park before rope drop.

Why Now's the Time to purchase DVC

Don't Pay Disney Prices

Look, there's never been a better time to own DVC points. The 50th anniversary runs through March 2023, then you've got TRON opening, Guardians settling in, all these new restaurants and shows.

But don't buy direct from Disney and pay $185+ per point. We've got Saratoga Springs contracts right now for $125 per point. Beach Club for $150. That's 30-40% savings, same exact points, same exact benefits.

Here's what you need to know: our commission is 6.9%. Industry standard is 9.5%. Your admin fee is $500, paid at closing. Seller pays the $150 estoppel fee. We've closed over 3,000 transactions, so we know what we're doing.

The anniversary ends in March. TRON's opening sometime in 2023. Guardians is just hitting its stride. If you're thinking about DVC, don't wait until everyone else figures out what you already know.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What special events took place during Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary?

The 50th anniversary brought new nighttime shows like Harmonious at Epcot and Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom, plus KiteTails at Animal Kingdom. They opened Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and later Guardians of the Galaxy. All four park icons got special lighting effects they call "Beacons of Magic," and there are 50 golden character statues hidden throughout the parks. Food-wise, they opened Space 220 at Epcot and created dozens of anniversary-themed snacks. The whole celebration ran from October 2021 through March 2023.

How DVC Members Experienced the 50th Anniversary

Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary celebration ran from October 2021 through March 2023, and DVC members had a front-row seat for the entire 18 months. Members staying at Bay Lake Tower watched the "Disney Enchantment" fireworks from their balconies every single night without fighting for a spot on Main Street. Guests at the Polynesian Villas could see the show reflected across Seven Seas Lagoon from their rooms. That kind of access is something you simply cannot get with a standard hotel reservation, because those rooms sell out months in advance at premium rates.

The celebration brought real, lasting improvements to the parks and resorts. EPCOT received a complete transformation of its entrance area, new lighting packages, and the "Harmonious" nighttime show (later replaced by "Luminous"). Magic Kingdom added new projection mapping on Cinderella Castle that remains part of the nightly entertainment. These infrastructure upgrades benefit every DVC member who visits the parks going forward, not just those who were there during the celebration.

Several DVC resorts also received refurbishments timed around the anniversary period. BoardWalk Villas completed room updates, and the Polynesian Village Resort underwent significant renovations. These improvements increased the quality of the accommodations and, in turn, supported resale values at those resorts. A refurbished room at BoardWalk is a more attractive product on the secondary market than one showing its age.

Anniversary years also create an interesting dynamic in the resale market. Public interest in Disney peaks during major celebrations, which drives more people to research DVC for the first time. We saw increased buyer activity at DVC Sales throughout 2022 and into 2023 as families who visited during the 50th decided they wanted to come back every year without paying rack rates of $600 to $900 per night for a Deluxe resort room.

The next major milestone will be Walt Disney World's 55th in 2026 and eventually the 60th. If you are thinking about buying DVC resale, locking in a contract before the next anniversary surge means you get better pricing and have your membership ready when the celebrations begin. Give us a call at (407) 205-1435 to discuss which resort and point count fits your travel plans. We have been helping families buy DVC resale for over 25 years, and we will make sure you get the right contract at the right price.

How DVC Membership Changes the Disney Experience

Day guests and DVC members visit the same parks, eat at the same restaurants, and ride the same attractions. The difference is everything around the park visit. DVC members stay in villa-style accommodations with full kitchens, separate bedrooms, and in-room laundry. They book 11 months ahead at their home resort, locking in rooms during holidays and peak seasons before the general public even knows availability has opened. They walk back to their resort mid-afternoon for a pool break or a nap, which is something you can only do when your room is five minutes from the park entrance.

Over the course of a week-long trip, those differences add up. A family that can eat breakfast and a few lunches in their villa saves $300 to $500 compared to three restaurant meals per day. A two-bedroom villa that sleeps a family of six costs the same number of points whether you use it for five nights or seven, because points are consumed per night regardless of group size. The per-person cost of a DVC stay for a larger family is simply lower than booking hotel rooms for the same group.

Resale contracts give you the same villa access at a fraction of the direct price. DVC Sales has been helping buyers find the right contract at the right price since 1999. Our inventory covers all 16 DVC resorts and is updated daily. Browse contracts at dvcsales.com/dvc-resale-listings or call us at (407) 205-1435 to talk through your options.

Mark was a great guy to work with while successfully selling my 6 DVC contracts. He definitely knows the DVC business well. He always responded very quickly any time I had questions or needed help with any part of the sales process. He works very hard to earn his commission, especially considering that he has the lowest one around. He is up front about everything with no hidden surprises. I would obviously not hesitate to use his services again.

Mark was incredible about helping us with any questions we had during the process of purchasing our first DVC contract. Mark helped us navigate all aspects from making our offer all the way to the close of the deal and getting our points loaded up. We would certainly buy more points here in the future! I highly recommend him and his team.

Very happy with all aspects of working with DVC Sales and this is the second time of using them! Their website is clear and user-friendly and as international sellers, the information on FIRPTA was hugely helpful, particularly the links to all the forms. The whole process from start to finish has been seamless. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to other sellers as a highly professional company. Thank you Mark!
