Disney ROFR Decision, How Am I Notified?

Disney ROFR Decision, How Am I Notified?

The Disney ROFR (Right of First Refusal) decision is one of the most critical milestones in the Disney Vacation Club resale process. Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, waiting for Disney to review your contract can be nerve-wracking. Here’s what you can expect, how you’ll be notified, and what your next steps should be after a decision is made.

How the Disney ROFR Process Works

After your Disney Vacation Club resale contract is signed, Disney reviews the agreement to decide if it wants to purchase the contract at the same terms as the buyer. This review period typically takes 20 to 30 days, but it can vary. You can learn more about DVC resale timelines on our How Long to Sell DVC page.

How You’ll Be Notified of the ROFR Decision

As soon as Disney issues a ROFR decision, all parties are notified immediately:

  • Both buyer and seller receive an update by email, usually within minutes or hours of the official Disney response.
  • The title company is also notified so they can proceed with closing or refund the buyer’s deposit if needed.
  • For real-time tracking, your DVC Sales dashboard and email notifications are your best resources.

What Happens After the ROFR Decision?

  • If Disney Waives ROFR:
  • The title company moves forward with closing. Both buyer and seller continue toward the transfer, and final documents are prepared.
  • If Disney Exercises ROFR:
  • Disney becomes the buyer, purchasing the contract at the agreed price and terms. The original buyer’s deposit is fully refunded, and the seller receives the same payment just from Disney. For more about this process, see DVC Disney Buy Back Comparison.

Why Timing and Communication Matter

We know how crucial timing is during the ROFR review window. That’s why our team tracks every contract and acts quickly to communicate updates. The moment we receive an answer from Disney, we notify everyone involved to avoid any uncertainty or delay.

If you have travel plans, personal deadlines, or want peace of mind, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team can provide a real-time status update or walk you through what to expect next. For more on the whole resale process, visit our Disney Vacation Club Checklist.

Resources for Buyers and Sellers

Stay up-to-date with your contract status using your dashboard and email alerts. For details about DVC points and ROFR history, you can also check the DVC Point Charts on Disney’s official site.

If you have questions about ROFR or the next steps after a decision, reach out to our team through our Contact page for personalized support.
