Disney Attraction Must-See: Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Posted on June 02, 2022 by | Lori Webb | Leave A Comment

Disney Attractions

Disney operates two water parks located at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Typhoon Lagoon, the original water park, has attractions for all ages and features fast waterslides and pint-sized raft rides in the children's area.

Step into this tropical paradise and largest wave pool and enjoy Miss Adventure Falls. This 56-acre theme park allows you do a lot of fun with your family. Let's take a glimpse at Typhoon Lagoon attractions!

Largest Wave Pool

The main attraction of Typhoon Lagoon is its large wave pool that encourages the guests to plan one more trip at Disney World. It pumps out six-foot waves every 90 seconds. The waves are so big that you can actually go surfing before the park opens or after closing for an extra charge. Disney guests have a large area to enjoy in front of these sharp boastful waves. Moreover, a vast sandy beach surrounds the wave pool, where the guests can relax and enjoy the sun.

Guests less than 60 inches tall can enjoy the bay slides in a shallow wave pool area. These water slides are perfect for kids. To reach a wave pool, you need to walk over the Castaway Creek lazy river that circles the giant wave pool with a lot of immersive scenery.

Mt. Mayday & Miss Tilly

The park's main icon is a shrimp boat nicknamed Miss Tilly that sits precariously on top of the giant volcanic mountain called Mt. Mayday. Climb up Mt Mayday for walking trails to access various water slides. These walking trails are the only dry attractions at Typhoon Lagoon water park.

On the left of the mountainside, you will encounter three raft rides. First is Keelhaul Falls, the smooth single rider tube slide that is enjoyable for all ages of people. The second is Mayday Falls, the intense tube slide and is the highest and largest ride. You will go under the rustic wooden bridges and speed paths crashing, waterfalls hitting the final splashdown. The last slide is Gangplank Falls, a family ride that seats four guests per raft. It is enjoyable for the whole family.

The next is Ketcha Kiddie Creek, a large play area for younger Disney guests under 48 inches tall that features small slides, fountains, and a small sandy beach for kids.

Miss Adventure Falls

Miss Adventure Falls was added in 2017 in Typhoon Lagoon and is a family raft ride. It is based on the character Mary Oceaneering, a member of the Society of Adventurers and Explorers. This is a unique attraction that links many different Disney attractions together. This features audio-animatronics of Mary's parrot companion Duncan.

Crush 'n' Gusher

You will have a choice of three incredible water coasters. You can choose from Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher, and Pineapple Plunger. Here, you choose to ride either alone or with a partner in the two-person raft. Powerful water jets will shoot you up and down around the attraction.

Restaurants

Numerous restaurants offer mouthwatering meals at Typhoon Lagoon water park. These restaurants provide pizza, burgers, salads, rice bowls, and ice cream. Furthermore, Singapore Sals is the main shopping center at Typhoon Lagoon near the park entrance. Here you can get plenty of Disney merchandise, swimming clothes, lockers, and much more.
